About Us
Who are we
The Parish Church of St Mary and St Michael’s, Trumpington
We are a lively community seeking to grow in faith and service to the local community. You might have read about us in The Trumpet if you live locally. The church building is situated on Grantchester Road and flanks the recent Trumpington Meadows development. In under a decade, Trumpington has grown from a modest village on the outskirts of Cambridge to almost the size of a small town. Our aim is to reach out to people in this growing community and to become a more diverse and inclusive congregation.
We offer three services most Sundays; 8am BCP Communion, 9am Meditation, 10am Holy Communion, and 6.30pm BCP Evening Prayer (on the third Sunday of the month). We are a mixture of traditions and ages, and welcome Christians from different denominations. Worship tends to be robed and formal with the exception of the 10am All Age Communion on the first Sunday of the month, and the non-eucharistic 10am Third Sunday Service.
There are plans afoot to establish home groups to facilitate fellowship and learning in safe environments. We hold bible studies, Advent and Lent courses open to everyone. We do not want to force our faith upon anyone, but we want to enable people to express the Christian faith coherently and confidently. As the bible says in 1 Peter 3:15:
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But to do this with gentleness and respect…”

What we believe
We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, widowed, straight, gay, questioning, well-heeled or down at heel. We especially welcome wailing babies and excited toddlers.
We welcome you whether you can sing like Pavarotti or just growl quietly to yourself. You’re welcome here if you’re ‘just browsing,’ just woken up or just got out of prison. We don’t care if you’re more Christian than the Archbishop of Canterbury, or haven’t been to church since Christmas ten years ago.
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome keep-fit mums, football dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you’re having problems, are down in the dumps or don’t like ‘organised religion.’
We offer a welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don’t work, can’t spell, or are here because granny is visiting and wanted to come to church.
We welcome those who are inked, pierced, both or neither. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down their throat as kids or got lost on the ring road and wound up here by mistake. We welcome pilgrims, tourists, seekers, doubters… and you!
